The XB1 version obviously didn't have these limitations, but in the Horizon 3 demo, there was one point where I drifted wide on a sweeping turn and contacted a chain-link fence on the side of the road. There are only a few truly open off-road areas. more guardrails and indestructible terrain.

Horizon 2 (360) is far more restrictive than the XB1 version. I started playing Horizon 2 on the 360 just last month, and I'm knee-deep into it, and the move to this game is slightly jarring. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it, but the head-on collisions seem to be coming fast and furious. so used to driving around past Horizons that I can't drive freely in this game. I can drive in the left lane for about 30 seconds, look around a bit, then find myself in a head-on collision because my muscle memory has taken me back into the right lane. Left lane drive? Really? I know they are trying to be realistic but no! I don't like it and I don't want to try to get used to it. I expect it will end up being plenty of fun.

That would be nice.ДЄnyway, I'll still probably pick it up with Amazon's 20% discount. I didn't see a friends-only driveatar option, sadly. When I upped the difficulty, it seemed like some of the lower tier ForzArs regulars (my level) appeared, but not you aliens.

I got a message that said events were available, but I couldn't figure out how to see them, let alone join them. I hit menu, chose a new location and half of us got into a race there, but then I got teleported somewhere else and was directed back to the original meet up point again. The GPS assistant really wanted me to go to a group meet up point, but there was nothing there. I got into an online freeroam session but couldn't quite figure out how to do anything.

I'm sitting six or seven feet from a 49' 1080p screen and I can't read a thing in this game.

I think my eyes are getting too old, though. I took another shot at it and, once I got past the on-rails sections, it got more interesting. Horizon 2 was a ton of fun, so that sounds great to me, but it's also not going to blow you away if you're familiar with Horizon 2. It looks like it's probably going to be more or less Horizon 2 with a new location, some refinements, and some new event types. Based on the demo, 'running the festival' just means that you get to pick the order in which some things are unlocked, which seems to be pretty well done, so it looks like I don't need to worry about the event administration stuff getting in the way of the driving. The 'win fans' thing seems to essentially just be a score that accumulates as events are completed, with new festival sites getting unlocked as you earn more, which seems like a pretty decent (and even logical) mechanic. I turned off pretty much all of the assists, and the driving felt basically like Horizon 2, which is fine with me. You can turn off the assists as soon as the game gives you control of a car, by going into the difficulty settings. I got the demo downloaded and played through it.
